When my oldest was 5, he loved to write. He sounded everything out phonetically with no regard to spelling and it was absolutely adorable. He would make me 留在我体内的又开始变大 and notes. Before he could 长发姑娘, he would write apologies to slide under my door when he was in trouble. Sometimes it took me awhile to work out what he was trying to say, but I was always so proud of his efforts.
My second child has always been much more tentative about writing. She doesn’t like taking risks. She will write me endless stories about cats, rats, and bats, but she is easily overwhelmed if I encourage her to write about something she is actually interested. Gradually, her comfort zone is expanding, but it’s a slow process.
Regardless of your child’s attitude toward writing, I encourage you to value any written work your child produces. Here are some resources to get you started.
